'FREDDIE MERCURY' - Box set due to be released October 23rd 2000

(News from QFC)

The definitive Freddie archive set is to be released on October 23rd. It will simply be called "Freddie Mercury". It is being released to celebrate everything that Freddie did outside of Queen. The box itself is a huge photographic book. When you open the book, the inside covers will contain six CD's on each side - ten CD's and 2 DVD's. The cd's will include the original Mr Bad Guy album and Barcelona, both digitally remastered plus The Great Pretender, which was the Hollywood Records version of the Freddie Mercury Album. 2 CD's will feature all of Freddie's singles, B sides and remixes. 1 cd will be just instrumentals - to show Freddie's duets with other artists, and the final CD will feature some of the excellent, and never before heard interviews that Freddie gave to his friend and jounalist David Wigg.

The photographic book will feature many images from the Freddie Photographic Exhibition, promotional photos and many many previously unseen images from some of the top photographers.

The 2 DVD's will consist of all of Freddie's solo videos - and this has been remixed for "surround sound" if you have the facility, otherwise it's stereo. The second DVD will be a specially comissioned 90 minute "appreciation of Freddie" documentary by Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher. The Torpedo Twins have filmed a lot of new material with friends and relatives and visited many places associated with Freddie to obtain new footage.

A written "appraisal" of Freddie Mercury will also be included, written by a top rock critic, and immensely detailed sleeve notes by Greg Brooks.

Now I know what you're thinking.... "I'd better remortgage the house now", and "I don't have a DVD player...."!!   These points HAVE been considered. The entire box will cost no more than £150. Okay, that's still expensive, but for what you get it's an incredible price.

Mr Bad Guy and Barcelona will also be available separately as a double CD package, with bonus tracks of Freddie's hits that weren't on either album, the video collection will be available separately on VHS and DVD, and the special documentary will also be available separately on VHS.
